ALEXANDRIA - The city we dream of

WORKSHOPS

An invitation to participate in an interactive workshop

A journey through Alexandria's past, present and future

Have you ever wondered how the memory of a city like Alexandria was formed?
And where are the relics of its multiple history still present in its streets, cafes and institutions? Raqouda Foundation for Art and Heritage, in collaboration with the Greek organization M55, invites you to participate in an interactive workshop exploring the Greek existence in Alexandria during the modern and contemporary times, through field research, documentation, and collaborative mapping.

During this workshop we will try to read the city in a different way, researching the places that were part of the daily life of the Greek community in Alexandria, and how these places have changed over time. We will also learn about the mutual relationship between the city and the Greek community, and how each influenced the other, so that this experience becomes a part of Alexandria's shared memory.

What shall we do during the workshop?

Participants in small groups will work on:

  • Exploring different sites in Alexandria neighborhoods
  • Documenting places associated with Greek presence in the city
  • Conducting short interviews with the local community
  • Collecting images and visual materials
  • Preparing interactive maps of these places

At the end of the workshop, the results of the work will be displayed in a concluding exhibition featuring maps, documentation and short films prepared by the participants.

Target Category :
  • Young people interested in the history of Alexandria
  • Anthropology students and researchers
  • Those interested in cultural heritage
  • Architecture and Urban Planning Students
  • And everyone who has a passion for the city and its memory

Duration of the workshop: 4 days and at the end of the workshop the final exhibition

From 11 to 16 April 2026
